About the Author

Sherry Van PeltHi.  My name is Sherry Van Pelt and I am the author of Dear Conner, a grandmother’s pain.  I have always made my home in Iowa. I have been married to my husband now for nearly 43 wonderful years.  We have three grown children and three grandchildren.  My family is my life.  We are a very strong and close family.

My book’s subject is one that many find difficult to talk about.  You rarely hear anyone speak of losing children or grandchildren, as in our case.  The subject of losing a child or grandchild is not one that you will easily find on TV with a speaker discussing this issue.  Sometimes a parent or grandparent feel isolated because most people find it uncomfortable to discuss with the family who is hurting.  In an attempt to comfort the hurting family, they are afraid they will say the wrong words when all one needs to do is listen to the hurting person.  I never professed to be an author but I never would have thought that God would use me as His instrument to pen my book making me an author.   I am just an ordinary person with a very blessed life.    I never had any intentions on publishing my two-year letter to Conner into a book.   But after much struggling with releasing my deepest thoughts for the entire world to read, I prayed and God gave me the strength and peace.    I surrendered my book to God, and had my book published.  And as a result of obeying God’s will, many have read my book and in turn, the notes, phone calls, and letters I received became a real blessing to me and also helped me heal.  When God is control everyone is blessed.  (Please read testimonies of others found on this website).

My ultimate goal is to reach people around the globe who have lost children or grandchildren.   I want others to know that one day they will feel Joy again in their life.  I want to encourage other people.  One person who, after reading my book, told me that this book is like none other she had ever read because of all the tragedies our family endured over a 2 year period.   She stated that the book reminded her of the Book of Job.  I feel that my book is both universal and timeless.  Losing children doesn’t just happen in one country, but all over the world.  There isn’t a time frame for when no one else will have to lose a child ever again in our world.     Many have told me that once they started reading my story, they could not put the book down until they were finished reading.

I believe that God is using my book to touch people’s souls and restoring and healing their souls.  I also feel that their spirits will be uplifted.  I am praying that it will make their faith stronger too.

My book can be found on xulonpress.com and amazon.com among many other websites throughout the world.

May God bless your life as he has mine,
Sherry Van Pelt
